*Requisite disclaimer: I'm from southern California, and tend to be grouchy about tacos on the East Coast*
I was plant-sitting for a friend in Arlington, and felt the familiar pangs of hangriness. I needed tacos. I turned to Yelp and saw this place listed just a few minutes away!
I drove over, and after struggling to find parking for a bit, opened the door ("pull hard") and found myself wondering if I had been transported home for a moment. Not only did I see a solid taco menu, but two women were working on bagging sliced mangoes with chili and lime. It was a sign.
I ordered four tacos that first time - al pastor, vegetal, lengua, y carne asada, as well as elote and a bag of mango. I found a moment of happiness!
Wanting to ensure I had not dreamed this up, I got my other LA transplant friend to come with. When her eyes opened wide and she exclaimed, "omg this is kinda like home!", I knew we were on to something. Since then, I've been back countless times. The tacos all hit the spot, and the tortas are really good too. I've only had a couple of huaraches - they seem fine, but honestly, I'm here for the tacos. And elote. And mango. Okay, I stuff myself with tacos and never have space for huaraches.
In the winter, they have champurrado, which just makes me feel all warm and cozy. They carry a pair of aguas frescas - horchata and tamarindo, as well as a full complement of Jarritos. On weekends you can nab a solid bowl of pozole, but it tends to go quickly in my experience. I've tried a couple of the desserts - the tres leches just left me wanting better tres leches, and the flan was just ok - so I tend to pass on the desserts here and stick to the items in the name.
For my fellow California transplants: while this is definitely not as good as anything in California, this is as close as I have found thus far. -

Coming from AZ, I've been on the hunt for a solid taco joint since moving out here.
Ended up ordering chicken tacos, steak tacos, and a chicken quesadilla (plain). The chicken adobo is fire, marinated and grilled to perfection. They are street taco size, but stuffed with meat & toppings! Steak was delicious as well- no fatty pieces. But the chicken was more flavorful.
My biggest complaint is they are extremely oily. I'm assuming the chicken has been diced up and is sitting in a container in its own juice/marinade making it tender and not dry. However this also makes its super oily. My tortillas were soaked through on both the tacos and quesadilla. -

Amazing! Always order take out from here on Sundays and it NEVER disappoints.
I usually have tacos, all of them are excellent. My favorite are the chicken and the carnitas tacos.
Sometimes we order quesadillas and they are very large and filling.
My husband usually has the torta and he loves it, always craves this.
We have been to the brick and mortar location and it was a very low key place with lots of space (at least on a Wednesday at 1pm!) and, of course, excellent food! -

What a gem. Great service. Great food. What more can ya ask for.
We were Headin to a show at the Arlington draft house and couldn't decide what to eat. Stumbled upon Tortas and so happy we did.
The staff was soooo friendly, attentive and helpful when ordering and throughout our meal. You order at the counter and wait for your food to be called, but they make you feel at home and were serving us. They would take plates, refill waters, bring us food items.really lovely.
The food was filling and flavorful. There was 6 of us so no judgment. We got chips and guacamole, mixta quesadilla, chicken quesadilla, chorizo sope, flautas, chicken and beef tacos, chorizo taco, and a few other dishes. So yummy!!!!
Lastly, the place was packed and folks kept coming in and out to dine in or grab takeout. Families, men in suits, friends grabbing dinner, etc. It's like we all found our secret authentic Mexican spot! -

I came here for the pozole, which is a cute-all tomato-based beef and hominy soup. I always feel like it's hard to find and I've only seen it at like hole-in-the-wall authentic Mexican spots, which I definitely consider this to be! Sidenote: the pazole is only made on the weekends but if you're a soup person you should try! It was super hearty and flavorful! I decided to try a couple tacos as well because you can't not get tacos right. I got the carne asada and the al pastor, and omg so so so good. Honestly one of the best "authentic" type tacos I've had in northern Virginia,
granted my number one is usually Taco Bamba. Even their salsa which I assume is homemade is super delicious, the red was my favorite. Definitely coming back.
